These early G1 diesels had a plastic or neoprene final drive gear on the driving axle, which almost always splits making the loco run jerkily. I have NEVER come across one that is not affected - there must be HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS out there which are effectively useless because nobody makes a spare as far as I know! (Ulrich Sehling DOES make a final drive gear, but it is for cat no 5773/5573, which has the motor in the bogie, and is not the same, I have tried!).
Does anyone know if such gears are available anywhere? If not, there is a gap in the market for a gear manufacturer - I see dozens of crippled 5772s on ebay "sold as spares" because the owners cant fix them!
