Hey there!
I just joined the forum, after owning various HO and 1 Gauge Marklin trains for about 10 years. About 8 years ago, I bought an old-stock (brand new) Maxi steam locomotive; one of the standard green, red and black 'Max' locomotives. It's run perfectly since it arrived from Germany. However, recently its smoke generator burned out, and I need a new part. Does Marklin currently make anything that would fit (that I could just order from Marklin)? Or would I have to seek out an old/used part or scavenge another locomotive? Please offer any advice.

As far as I'm aware the Marklin smoke generators are made by Seuthe.  Seuthe 6 and 7 are for 1 Gauge, and I got a #7 to replace the smoke generator in my Gauge 1 BR78 after someone ran it at an exhibition with the smoke unit on and no fluid in it - it was charcoal when I took the old unit out! It had generated enough heat to warp the smokestack let alone burn the smoke unit out. Welcome to the forum!

Something similar happened to my Maxi; someone was messing with it at Christmas and was running it with the generator turned on with no fluid in the stack. Anyways, which voltage would you recommend? I know you said that you got the higher-voltage one, but would the lower-voltage one last longer or be easier on the locomotive? Is there a disadvantage to the lower-voltage one? Any idea on what voltage the original might be in a maxi locomotive? Thanks again so much for your help!
