Joined: 12/11/2020(UTC) Posts: 1 Location: Lismore N.S.W		Hi, I'm a first time user of this site. My question is, i brought an old 7186 Turntable a number of years ago and is time to get it working, but I'm struggling to find a replacement motor, any ideas. I was reading an article by John Barry on how to do an upgrade but he only says to use a Marklin 5 pole upgrade kit, but do not give a part number, can anyone help with the info. Regards, Dave

The motor is a standard SFCM (Small Flat Collector Motor but the rotor is special with a slightly longer axle and gear The exploded diagram is here https://www.maerklinshop.de/Spar...p;iBrandId=1&submit= Marklin does not sell spare parts for the 7186 any more ebay.de does not propose a rotor at this time So what part of your motor does not work? Occasionally a drop of oil and rarely new brushes because it is not a locomotive to spin for hours ... Maybe you just need to clean the contacts under the bridge?

Please note that there is a "clutch" (a friction drive with a spring on the horizontal shaft. There is also a locking tab, activated by the feeler finger, that blocks the horizontal shaft and cuts the motor power through an adjustable contact. So, if improperly adjusted one may happen: - the motor does not rotates if the contact does not close when the feeler finger is not in one registration hole (aka: is not in front of a track) - the motor rotates but the locking tab stops the horizontal from rotating past the clutch. The design is of course to stop the motor but also to stop immediately the TT (not waiting for the motor inertia which could jam the feeler finger thus making impossible for the solenoid to unlock.
