Roco just announced the TEE "Roland" as a Winter New Item for 2020/21. The train will come in 3 sets, one which contains two coaches and a restaurant (74043), the second contains two coaches and the bar coach (74042). The third set (74074) will contain two coaches which were detached from the train at Basel SBB, one of which ran to Zurich and Chur.

The main train ran from Bremen to Basel and from there to Milano via Olten, Luzern, Arth-Goldau, Gotthard, Bellinzona, Lugano and Chiasso.
At Basel SBB, the train picked up a pair of coaches from the Rheingold, which joined the Roland for the ride to Italy. One coach came from Hoek v. Holland and the second from Hannover.

A while back, Trix released a 12 coach box set made up of two (28cm) six coach consists (23477), one of which was the same as the two new Roco main sets. The second consist (German consist) included four of the coaches from the Roland, plus the Basel and Zurich/Chur coaches, which are included in the Roco third set.

Those who wish to model the train in Germany will need all three of the sets. The two coaches from the Rheingold can be run with the Rheingold set (74135/74136) from a few years ago.

Those who wish to model the train as it ran south of Basel only need the two main sets (74042/74043).

The corresponding locomotive for this train would be a BR 112 or 103 in TEE Colors (Germany), a Re 4/4II (11158-11161) in TEE colors or a FS E 444 "Tartaruga" for the run from Chiasso to Milano.
