I have a Mobile Station 2 (v 3.55 or higher)
I also have the accompanying (provided as a set by Marklin) Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 N-Gauge train
All works nicely

Recently bought the Hobbytrain H14904S Düwag
Got Lehmke to replace the existing decoder to a LoKSound 5 micro (ESU) specifically to work with the Mobile Station 2
The first time I placed the Hobbytrain on the tracks it self-registred
The Mobile Station flashed the "mfx" and voila it registered automatically
Ran with all functions available
All good

Then I took the Hobbytrain off and placed my Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 on the track
The Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 would no longer work
First it moved for a second or two and stopped
Could not turn lights on
Could not turn sound on
Nothing

Here is what I did
I deleted the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 locco entry from the Mobile Station
The Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 is the only train on the tracks
Switched the Mobile Station off
Switched it on again
Used the supplied Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco Card to register the train
Registration successful
Train still not working

Deleted the Hobbytrain H14904S Düwag entry from the Mobile Station
Now NO TRAIN is registered on the Mobile Station
The Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 is the only train on the tracks
Switched the Mobile Station off
Switched it on again
Used the supplied Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco Card to register the train
Registration successful
Train still not working
Deleted the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 locco entry from the Mobile Station
Now NO TRAIN is registered on the Mobile Station

Left the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco on the tracks
Switched the Mobile Station off
Switched it on again
Tried the "Find Loco" function Find for automatically detecting the train
It found something - but not the right train
Train still not working

In summary - I could not get the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 locco working
It registered correctly via the Locco Card - but it won't go
And there is no other train on the tracks
And it is the only train registered on the Mobile Station

I decided to give up (for the time being) on the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 locco
And go back to the Hobbytrain H14904S Düwag

I placed Hobbytrain H14904S Düwag on the track - but this time the "mfx"did not flash on the Mobile Station
Nothing registered - Nothing happened
For some strange reason it decided to move - but I could not control anything
I stopped the tram
Then used the "Find Loco" function and "Find" for automatically detecting the train
It found it as a "mfx" and registered the tram with all its functions correctly
It all works

QUESTION - A BIT LONGWINDED BUT WITH CONTEXT
How can I get the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 train to work again?

I thought of using the Mobile Station
Place the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco on the track
Use the "Configure Loco" and then "Reset Loco"
Which according to the manual says
"triggers a reset of the locomotive decoder (see the instructions of the locomotive decoder)"
Could not find anything in the manual about it

Do you think by resetting the locco it would restore all its original functions and work again?
It has 20+ functions documented in the manual which I do not wish to loose...

OR

Would I need to do the Mobile Station "Reset" (Factory Default Settings MS2)?
I rather not do that just in case nothing works

I could assume that the Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 (DCC protocol) and Hobbytrain H14904S Düwag (mfx) are in conflict?
And therefore assume I can only run one at a time
But would like both to be able to run on the track - but not simultaneously

Would appreciate thoughts - mostly on how can I get my Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 running again

Hi Laurence
I am afraid you fall into the only MFX drawback: registration issues. When registering for the first time a loco you must (IMO):
- put to loco while the power is OFF
- on a CS, preferably use the programming track
- make sure the rails are clean
- power up and don't touch anything until the registration is complete
- now you are good for many years

It happens to me a couple of times and the solution is to have your trains registered with another MFX power source (MS1, MS2, CS1, CS2, CS3) and then go back to your setup and it will work. May be at a friend's or at your shop.
It would be great if Märklin could add a command to de-register a train.
Cheers
Jean

Hello Jean,
Thanks for your quick response...
Much appreciated
I am not sure I understand the response... so if you could bear with me?

The MFX H14904S Düwag is working with my Mobile Station 2
No need to do anything there

I just want to get my Märklin / Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco (which came with my Mobiles Station 2) working again
That train came with the Mobile Station 2 as a start up kit I bought about 12 months ago

So all I wanted to do is to get the Märklin / Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco working again

You mentioned that "it happens to me a couple of times and the solution is to have your trains registered with another MFX power source"
The Märklin / Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco is not a mfx train - it is Märklin's own protocol
What do I need to do with the Märklin / Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco - which is not a MFX train?

Does that make sense?

Thanks again for your help

Laurence Sorry about my last post as I thought both locos were MFX.
All my locos being MFX and HO, it happened to me that during an MFX registration I had issues. This is not your situation.

So if your other loco is not working here are the possibilities to check:
- does it work in analog mode (8 VDC does it move and illunimates? If yes it means the motor and probably also the decoders are OK.
- decoder language (your loco can receive DC, SX1, SX2 or DCC, which one did you choose?) is not in accordance with your MS2 authorized (you may disable some of them: MM2, DCC, MFX) languages
- power not coming to the loco: not the case as it slowed down and stopped
- address in your loco not matching the address in your MS2 (remember electronics is not perfect and may change by itself). So, do not consider your card but the address in your loco (1 to 255). Find loco may help but not always and try the proposed address. According to the manual it should be 3
- MS2 set to authorize the language set in the loco (DCC should be authorised as well as MFX for your Düwag
- it may need a reset to factory settings once again and start using address 3
Here is the user's manual of your set https://static.maerklin....314574484a1512380963.pdf
I hope this will help

Hello Jean,
I understand...
OK...

What I mentioned before and I think you are saying this is that I should do.. try a "loccomotive manufacturer reset"
I checked the Mobile Station 2 Version 3.55 or higher (something I mentioned in my post)

Is this what you were thinking?
Page 19 of the document - is where it shows me how to reset the locomotive - bringing it back to factory setting
https://static.maerklin....f3c36e4fb91557845024.pdf

It says that I can:
Use the "Configure Loco" and then "Reset Loco"
Which according to the manual says
"triggers a reset of the locomotive decoder (see the instructions of the locomotive decoder)"

Is that what you also were thinking?
I will be doing this to my Märklin / Minitrix BR 146.2 11140 Locco as this is the (non mfx train) from Märklin which no longer works

I am about to go to bed... It is 23:10 here in Australia

If you let me know... I will try tomorrow and I will let you know how I go...

Thanks again for your help...

I would try a factory reset of the MS2. I'd also try a reset of the Trix loco. Then unplug the power of the MS2 for at least 10 seconds.

If the Trix loco works again, then either try the Lehmke loco with mfx again.
Or disable mfx in the MS2 and run the Lehmke loco with DCC.

Since both locos have the default address 3, only put one of them on the track and change the address.

With mfx the loco registers automatically, with DCC without loco card you have to select appropriate symbols for the function keys.

I don't know what happened. Maybe a setting has been changed in the Trix loco. The Trix loco most likely has a decoder made by D&H. So far I had no issues with my D&H decoders.

Good luck!
Regards
Tom

Thanks for that...
Appreciate your thoughts...

I am currently exploring various options...
I also got in touch with LEHMKE - who exchanged the decoder specifically for my circs..
So will gather as my intelligence, views and opinions and data as I can - including your experience and expertise
I will let you know how I go...
Thanks again
