Hi all,

I'm a complete newbie to automation - I'm starting with just detecting a train on C-Track.

I have made a contact track, and I have a Viessmann 5217 s88 module (which is the old style), and I have plugged it into my CS2 using the old-style s88 connector underneath the CS2. I have the common ground connected and I have the contact track connected to port 1 on the viessmann as per the viessmann manual - so hardware-wise I'm ready to test

My question is - does anyone have instruction for setting up the CS2?

How should the S88 and the track detection be showing up on the CS2?

I have been googling but struggling to find instructions. (and once that's working my next question will be how to get it to show up in RocRail :0)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Not so fast,

Before you even look at the layout I suggest you invest in spending the time to
- setup a Layout panel as a monitoring tool
- hard wire a test link (wire) between the S88s "T" terminal to one of the ports.

Re: setup a layout as a monitoring tool
I mean literally configuring a Layout pane with 16 sensor dots for ports 1 to 16

Re: jumper link
A link wire (about 200mm) screwed into the "T" at one end and a probe at the other end .
A crocodile clip for use with a jewelers screw has advantages.

Then in the CS2 setup screens you should configure the number of S88s that you have plugged in.

Once you have used the jumper to test every port and observed the dot on the CS2 go ON to Yellow and OFF to White , then you can move on to the layout connections.
This tests the port BUT ALSO that you have setup the port definition correctly

Great suggestion - I have it up and running on the CS2 now - my little dots turn yellow - yay! (Baby steps...)
