Just got my 37030 delivered. Ran it and frankly am very disappointed. The loc is very very noisy and has a real problem to deal with any uneven track. Its pulling power is also very bad and when the track goes up, it has problem even to pull two to three cars. Has anybody had similar problems as I am on the point of getting rid of it.

I have the loc also. It is not a noisy loc. It drives realy nice.
I think the sound is less then a loc with a five star engine. Pulling power is oke on level grond. On my steap hill which goes to 5% the limit is indeed 4 wagons with 4 axles.

If the loc after driving in. Still makes a lot of sound use a little oil on the places the loc description says.

If this doesnot help set it back for repairs.

M-track with a CS2.

If you look on pg 19 of the user's manual you will find "The beginning and end of a grade must be gradual or tapered. A max change in the angle of the grade of 1 degree is permissible between two adjoining sections of track..."

I had a couple of spots on my track that the 37030 would stall on, because the change in grade was to abrupt. When I fixed them, the lok worked great, and pulls well up grades

Welcome Rudy! I have this wonderful engine and have only found it to have a problem on 4% grades or greater. Noise is relative. add sound and the noise disappears. Mine is quiet compared to some of my older engines.

I have several versions of this lok, and they are all quiet. Make sure your gears are meshing properly, and that it is properly lubricated.

I have lubricated the wheel axes as per the manual. No change. The motor makes a high whining sound as soon as the loc speeds up. I always compare it to my Brawa S2/6 loc which is so quiet you hardly hear the motor. For a loc that costs as much as it does, it is a real disappointment.
It is also very prone to stall. I think the reason for this is because the "haft reifen" is on the front wheel, and a slight uneven track causes the wheel to lose contact with the track. This is a real problem and overall I am not happy and will dispose of the loc.

I would say you should take it to your dealer for repairs.

What you're described is very atypical. You had bad luck, don't let yourself be disapointed by one lok gone bad. I have played with quite a few variants of 37030 and they're all excellent, one of M's best offerings, I would say.

So, please take i back to the dealer and have it exchanged for a good one!

Luis
