I took delivery yesterday of a 37180 BR94 www.maerklin.de/en/products/details/article/37180Delighted with my purchase. I was especially interested in the "new" style telex coupler -this is the first lok I have purchased with this feature. I am impressed. The uncoupler is unobtrusive finished in black. Previous versions have been either the grappling hook or the big mechanism sticking out. I actually had to check it was there!. It seems to work perfectly well with both standard and older relex couplers. The older versions always worked better with one of the two. The lok will take the role of layout consist positioning master.

Hi, Thanks for the information. What seems interesting is that the new Telex -apart from being slim- can also according to you hook old Märklin couplers (Relex) which was not the case with the previous NEM Telex coupler (with a belly) E117 993. This latter coupling is currently not available by Märklin. So are they delayed by covid or in the process of changing the offering?
PS I like this loco a lot having the T16 KPEV version with the previous Telex version (E117993). When initially released this BR 94 (37160 in 2012) caused many complains about the valve gear jamming which caused a very poor sale but now all is back in order. Cheers Jean

Thanks for the review. Too often 'new' means 'worse'. Glad to hear it ain't so in this case. Jabez |

This sort of TELEX I agree is excellent.
I used for the first time on the 39567 Insider Croco.
There is no available as a spare part as can't be used in locos without special electronics to drive them.
They can't be soldered directly to an AUX output of the decoder.
May be will be a solution in the future, but I haven't any info about that
