I have a few what I believe are OLD Marklin HO DCC decoders. there are no markings on them. they pre-date the NMRA standard for decoder wire colors.

I removed them from some old locos and I noted the following connections:

Black--right rail
White--left rail
Blue--right motor connection
Red--left motor connection

what I don't know is how to wire the two light/function wires.

they are yellow and orange (brown on one of the decoders). if using lights, yellow and orange(brown) would each connect to one leg of a light bulb. where would the other leg of each bulb connect? the right rail, left rail, or doesn't matter?

thanks!!

Märklin standard is red for pickup shop, brown for ground (wheels), blue and green for motor connection. Function common ground is orange - lights front/rear is grey and yellow.

Are you sure these decoders are Märklin original?

thanks for the reply. based on what you said, these must not be marklin decoders.

They are probably the original Marklin DCC decoders used in Hamo models. They could also have been used in the original gauge 1 digital models.

[edit]
IIRC the Hamo decoders are model 6081 and the G1 decoders 6082, but I could be wrong. They came out at the same time as the 6080 MM decoders.

Yes , probably the 6082 or C82
a google search on that will help (In lock down I can't access the doco that the club has sorry)

In that era, decoder installs were for dealers only so these were shipped in a box of 5.
