Hi

Paris Saint Lazare station is the big station of my childhood.
It is nearer Paris center that any other rail station, 1 km from the Opera, 1 km from Madeleine Church and 1.4 km from Place de la Concorde.
Here is a short history of the station (alas in French) from the start in July 1837 (first French rail line between Saint Germain and Pais) until 1957.
Steam locos, boat-trains etc

It is at the crossing of 3 metro lines, 1 Express metro line and has today approx 1600 trains and peak 460,000 passengers per day making it the 2nd rail station in Europe after Paris Gare du Nord.
It is a Terminal station with 27 platforms and 6 destination groups
The station was renovated in 2012

It looks today like this

A new renovation tranche from 2020 until 2023 is planned.

The station has been painted by
- Edouard Manet
- Claude Monet
- Gustave Caillebotte

and more.
It has remained conventional without any TGV to serve the North-West part of France
I hope you like it.
Cheers
Jean

It is also the Paris terminal in Emile Zola's great railroad novel La Bete Humaine.
