When I was given my first Märklin as a child, it came as a completed layout in a kind of dogbone design. It only had two turnouts so not a lot of play action but it did have around 6 wonderful Faller houses. That layout is long gone and I’ve moved to a more sophisticated layout with plenty of room for working the trains. See my layout on https: //www.marklin-users.net/forum/posts/t30847-Modified-No-5-LayoutI retained my love of those vintage Faller houses and have been collecting some over the last few years. They’ll be installed on my layout soon so I thought I should photograph them before installation so they can photographed more easily. The station - 109 Bahnhof Neustadt and the hotel - 219 are already on the layout and difficult to get clear shots of them. The others will be installed soon and you’ll be able to see them on the post above in Me and My Layout. John 109 - Bahnhof Neustadt 202 206 208 219 220 246 253 260 294

Hello John, You have some very nice and interesting Faller models. Your station Neustadt (109) is version 2, made 1954-56. Very nice ! On the photos it's hard to see if your Hotel-Cafe 219 has a balcony or not, but it looks like version 3 from 1955. Marco |

Thanks Jimmy and Marco. They are mainly in good condition and the little bit of ageing adds to the character I think. Here are a couple more photos of the back of Hotel - Cafe 219. I'm not sure if it's meant to be the back or front but it's the back on my layout. The other thing that's helped is getting a decent camera and I'm just starting to learn how to use it. What a wonderful hobby we have to be able to practise photography! John

Yes, your Hotel-Cafe 219 is version 3, recognizable as 219.3 by the plastic roof on the side building and the lack of a balcony. Only made in 1955. Very nice ! |

Thanks for the link. I didn't know about it. I've been trying to make up a catalogue from ebay postings over the last few years. Having access to the original catalogues is much better!

Hi Roger, That's a nice collection of Faller houses too. All in good condition. Are they representative of southern Germany, e.g. Bavaria or the Alps? Cheers, John
