Adding text to a track plan and control desk now both work for me by selecting the text and holding the mouse button on the text symbol until the keyboard appears.

The new feature of showing events in the track plan band and the control desk is very useful.

I created an event for example to set the main tracks so that when you click on it you get a dot next to the event symbol which changes to green when the event has been completed giving me confidence that the tracks are clear for running a loco.

The control desk appears to me to emulate the panels you see for managing a real railway. Turnouts shown on the track plan and control desk both work.

I prefer the track plan as representing the actual shape of my layout but I might use the control desk to show all my events.

The problem I have with text and turnout and track sensor numbers is that they cannot be read unless you zoom in to the display. Still the wheel on the mouse makes this easy to do.

however this may be early/premature as neither the Marklin shop nor dealers have the 03083 item listed yet (page not found)

Good Tip!

As to TB v CD , I prefer the CD.

As it relates to text size, the CD offers a "docked - 3 tile field" for loco names which is a little more readable as it does not mater what the colour of your areal is. The 3 tile doc is special for locos, a single tile dock is available for other items.

Of note , is that a signal looks better , IMHO, when docked
