Hello friends.

A few words and pictures about how to feed power to Märklin 1-scale tracks, in a cheap and efficient way.
Being electrician I know the meaning of proper power supply, and I don’t like the solutions offered by Märklin.

First you buy a box of female crimp connectors, 4,8mm type. ( Note: "standard" is 6,3mm. )
Solder wires to the back of the connectors, without filling the connectors with the soldering material.
The thickness of the soldering must not be more than 2,3mm.
Cut of the red part of the connectors and grind them nice.
You now have connectors that are a little too small for the tracks, so the “needle” is pushed
trough each connector, to open it up a little.

A tool to hold the plastic while you take the tracks apart helps a lot.

The result looks like this, and they sit really tight:

Hi Per,

Interesting solution! Looks very nice and it's cheap. I guess you're right when claiming it will conduct better than Märklins original connectors.

Thanks for this helpful post, Per. The fact that they hold tightly is a huge plus. By the way, I have had good luck using the Marklin track clips and I was wondering if anyone else used them.

Hi Per
Thanks for the info - I will consider this on my next large "carpet" layout.

Hi Tommy - I use them extensively when I set up my large carpet layouts and find they increase the track electrical connectivity significantly. But they are real pain to take off when you pack it all away[:(!][:(!]

Hi Per - congratulations, good solution Smile!
However, not every consumer is as ingenious as Per. And it's disgusting how M [xx(] lets their paying customers fumbling out in the rain ...
Well, thank Sweden we can critisize openly M's very best junk [xx(] here in this World Forum.
