Hello, It has been a while since I've been on this forum. If this topic doesn't belong here I apologize, and ask the admins to move it in the appropriate section. Now let's get started. I have seen the Faller Car system but I was never too fond of it so I stared searching for other alternatives. I found some 1:87 RC cars from Revell and some trucks and buses from Wiking but the offer was quite limited. So I decided to make some of my own. I have started with trucks because I thought I should give it a try with something simple. First I started milling the chassis Adding the rear lights The rear fender with the lights installed on the chassis The transmission The chassis ready to receive the transmission. The steering servo installed on the chassis Same, from another angle Tranny, rear fender and servo installed The ON/OFF switch and the charging port masked by the fuel tank The fuel tank installed View from a different angle Side skirts test fit The receiver ready to be installed And after installation The battery in the driver's cab Bottom view when it was all done And the result: Here is a video with some trucks that I have made: The example above is a truck with simple lights front and back. Depending on the type of the receiver you can add, turn signals, hazard lights, brake lights etc. In this case the wiring will be a little bit more complicated: The total budget for such kind of truck is around 150-200 euros. A remote control is 60-70 euros, most of the stuff you can find online (I will post some links if the admins allow it). I guess this trucks will be the perfect addition to our dioramas… Topic moved to 'H0-scale'. Edited by moderator 29 October 2019 16:30:51(UTC)

After getting in hand with the trucks I thought I should try with HO scale cars. I have chosen a DACIA 1300 from Brekina because i am from Romania . Dacia 1300 (Renault 12) was produced under Renault licence in Romania starting with 1971 and production continued until 2003 (various facelifts occured but basically it was the same model). The original chassis wasn't fit for RC conversion, so i have designed my own I have transferred the design to a simple piece of PCB Board PCB Board milling And the result The transmission carriers and the ball bearings Transmission intermediary shaft Rear axle installed on the chassis (note the two cooper bushings acting as supports) Transmission intermediary shaft and the rear axle (my finger is there just for size ) Transmission and motor installed (I used a 4 mm diameter motor from a steering servo) Front caster blocks carriers printed on cooper sheet ready to be etched. Front steering , servo and transmission. I have used the caster blocks and the connecting from Faller Car system steering. The top and bottom parts were to thick for what I needed, that's why I had to etch the top and bottom supports. Battery and receiver installed and the end result. A small video with a test run: This project is not done yet, I still have to add lights and turn signals. Keep you posted!

Excellent result. Testing on a ceramic stove top sure beats getting down on the floor as well.

I am very pleased and excited that you have posted pictures of your amazing 1:87 RC projects. It is something I have been interested getting into. While there are many YouTube videos of the finished products there are less that show how they were done, and even less that describe the technical elements and what components were used and where they can be bought. And out of these few, hardly any are in English as this seems to be a predominantly German interest hobby at the HO scale.
I would be very grateful if you could provide info on choosing motors, transmissions, steering servos, receivers and batteries and links to your preferred suppliers of these components. I would also appreciate if you could share how you implement all the lighting functions and how many channels one needs on the transmitter to make it work.

Thank you for your appreciation!
I'll send you a PM with further info. Dunno whether I'm allowed to post shop links here.
