I'm thinking to build a layout with Trix Express track, four steam locomotives each one with a 1N4001 diode inside, four hand controllers and a single tansformer, exactly like the Faller AMS half wave DC system. It seems very interesting, I wonder if someone have had the same idea!

Hallo Paulo.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm also into Trix Express, mainly 1935 - 1970, but I never run more than 2 TE loco's at the same time.
Not sure, but your idea with the diodes maybe might work.

Marco

Welcome Paulo.

I noted this from the signage at the DB Museum annexe in Koblenz, when visiting one year ago.
There is a large operating Trix Express layout on the second floor of the main building.
I have never seen it.
Perhaps they have an enthusiast Club who run it regularly on Museum open days.

Hi Marco, I think it can work well, in the same way as Faller AMS cars do. It needs 8 diodes, 4 hand controllers, 4 locomotives and a transformer. You can see the electronic schematic I have drew in my album.

They do (e.g., every second Saturday in November 2019):
