Hello. Most of my trains are analog, but I do have one that I think may be digital or delta. Model 86582.

Hi Karl,
According to Helmut Kern's excellent website, 86 582 is from one of three starter sets, 29535, 29537 or 29538. All three of these are Delta locos so there is no doubt that that's what you have. In fact because it has the large flat commutator motor it has to be the loco from the 29535 set of 2001 if Helmut Kern's site is correct.
In any case the decoder in your picture looks like a delta decoder in my opinion.

Hope this helps. You have a märklin delta 66031 decoder with a 701.21b chip.
