Does anyone have success converting the original Goliath crane decoder to MFX? What are the challenges?

Well, I would not like to take out the decoder. Probably the first challenge. The second is to order an mfx decoder for the crane from Märklin. They will charge you a price you wouldn't like to pay. And finally what will be the advantage after all this? I would recomment to leave it like it is.
Greetings
Martin

Hi Sebastian

As Martin says there is little benefit to install an MFX Decoder in the Goliath crane. The challenge would be:
- to design a specific adapter PCB to drive 3 motors
- to make it fit in the very tiny space available
- to open the crane and make the change

I was forced to repair my Märklin coal loading crane (Grossbekohlungsanlage 76510) and believe me it was not a piece of cake so I can imagine the difficulty dealing with very compact mechanism.

Regarding my Goliath crane I will open it only if it needs repairing.
Cheers

Previous thread where this has been discussed.

My first thought would have been a V100/BR212 and that is what is suggested in that thread.
