Commuter train strikes vehicle on crossing. One dead so far, and 30 injured. Looks like they are lucky not a lot worse.

So the detection system that was activated by the truck being in the crossing, presumably it signaled the train and they were able to apply brakes sooner and thus avoided a much worse incident.
