Märklin H0 Zugpackung 3100 Berlin 750 years
There are 3 locomotives in the set.
One of them is powered from the tender. How does it work (connected how) ?
Are they all analogue (which I need) ?
What is your experience with them, any issues, what to take care of ?
Thank you.

I have the set, All run on analog controller.

The motor was in the loco drive not in the tender (plastic tender body). The electric loco was plastic body.

Any never run since left factory -You need oiling if you want to run.

The pickup shoe (Schleifer) is on the tender, then the motor in the loco must be connected to it.How ?

There are wires between the loco and the tender. In this loco I believe the reversing relay is also in the tender.

The loco and tender are permanently coupled and power is supplied to the motor, lights, and smoke unit (if installed) by wires between the lok and tender.

Ray is correct in stating that the reverse unit is in the tender.

Steven is correct in advising to oil the looks before use. If the set has never been used the old oil in the motor may have dried up and the motor will not rotate. Check this before using the lok.

Cheers...

Mike

The electric went poorly and it stunned

The gear could see traces of dried oil

I switched everything from contact spray and wiped it well and re-greased it

I have always found the 3100 set intriguing, and tempting.
I never purchased one because the locos were not digital.

But regarding the electric engine, a Class 04, Maerklin rarely released it separately.
37470 is a digital example.
I think I would buy one if the housing is metal.

As the 3049 it was in the catalogue for many years and is commonly available on eBay. It has a DCM motor and is very easy to convert to digital with the 60760 kit.
