And they still make things like that:

I have to agree with Per - very slick wording, and probably not true. Also this item was produdced last year, so they are available on the market if you look a little.

Seems like a little bit of a salesman to me.

I haven't bought a Marklin ring and hearings for my Wife¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡. Shame on me.

Sometimes I cannot figure out if marklin is a model train, toy train, jewellery, or condon manufacturer (just remember the billy boy wagon).

Only 10 8891 18ct gold made worldwide.

They got the number wrong... It's not 8891. It's 88891. It's in the Märklin catalog from '97.

Steamloco cl. 10

25th Anniversary Solid Gold

Steamlocomotive cl. 10 body of solid 18 carat gold. Three cut diamonds set in white gold as three headlights on the front of the locomotive. Three rubies shine as marker lights on the back of the tender. The locomotive is fully functional. All axles powered. All wheels are gold plated. Locomotive wheels have black spokes. Side rods, drive rods and cross heads are gold plated and inlaid in black. Length over buffers 120 mm (4-3/4").

The 88891 gold locomotive is being produced in a one-time series only in 1997 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of mini-club and is sold out at the factory.

The locomotive and tender body are cast in a special casting process from approximately 3 ounces of 18 carat gold and are processed further with a great deal of hand labor. The wheels. buffers and valve gear are gold plated. Naturally, the locomotive is fully functional. Each locomotive comes in a high-quality jewel box with a numbered certificate.

The catalog says nothing about how many produced, but I'm sure it's more than 10... Smile

The gold loco (BR 03) from last year is not the same as this one. Last year it was a 3-pack (88853) of 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Here is a 88891 on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.de/Markl...WD4VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
