Hello I live in the US and wanted to know which transformer do I need or can be used with the CS1? Can I connect it directly to the track or do I need a special connector? I’m going to use mainly M track. Thanks.

I wouldn't use anything less than a white 32va transformer with the CS1, and it is best to use the 60va 60052 Marklin transformer for best results. The best that you can use is the 6002/6003 old transformer (52v) can use with CS1. Here is the way the CS1 came originally:

Depending on your expected track/accessory load and purpose you can use (probably should aim for) the 52VA transformer (60055 USA) already picture, however the 60212/CS1 will work the the smaller starter power pack (e.g. 66181 that cam with the Mobile Station sets) at the time of release, any Marklin 16VAC transformer 600x were common - with the noted current/power limitations. i.e. either a 16V AC transformer or a 18V DC power pack. The 60212/CS1 shipped with BOTH - the 8 pin to 10pin CAN cable (pictured above - bottom left) for use with connector boxes 24088(C-Track), 60115 or 601111 and - 2 pin plugs (x2 for main and programming outputs) and cables with/without spade connectors (C-Track assumed) Do not use BOTH at the same time The 60212/CS1 item did NOT ship with the 24088 track adapter (pictured above bottom middle), although this may have been provided in a C-Track starter set which included a 60212/CS1 . Power must NOT be provided into the track connector box if used . (only to the 60212/CS1) Refer Users manual page 16/17(online) or page 25/26(updated hardcopy with s88/booster/sniffer references) |

Thanks for the info. I probably should have mentioned that I have CS 1 with 2.04 on the way from England. As far as I can see this auction was for the CS 1 only without the transformer or any other cable or wires. That's why I'm asking what I need to hook it up to my future m-track layout and programming track. If any body has these for sale, please let me know. Thanks. It is going to be a midsize layout in L-shape(about 10x8 feet) single mainline.
Happy Model Railroading

For both the programming track and main layout you only need the plug (and appropriate length of wire) The plugs are generally available from any hobby electronics store https://uk.farnell.com/t...025?MER=sy-me-pd-mi-alteUnless you really want to pay 6E for the marklin E611719 https://www.maerklinshop...schluss-2-polig-2-stueck Thanks Peter. That was very helpful. Farnell has a USA warehouse and I can order the plug from there. I have 2 white transformers with 32va. Would they be suitable to use? Maybe as a booster? Robert

Boosters can work with transformers, but transformers cannot be used as boosters. A 32 VA transformer is enough to boot the Central Station, but the overload protection of the transformer may trigger before the overload protection of the Central Station - the CS will blank out and will reboot when the power is restored. You can try out how far you can go with 32 VA, but problems may arise when running trains that need much power or when running too many trains. |
