I have a Kibri station kit which has facilities for lighting. I have made up 12 LED?resistor packs to fit into the Kibri window boxes.

LED card

Each one of these is attached to a small pc board. When I power them from a 5v supply they all light fine. Now I would like to put a switch on the front of the railway, next to the Marklin box that I have controlling my uncoupler tracks.

I thought that this would be easy as I had another Marklin box for controlling signals that I haven't used. However....

I connected the light matrix up to the 72760 signal control box, using a 66361 power supply, thinking that pushing the button would turn the lights on and releasing the button would turn them off. However, pushing the button turns the led in that button green but nothing happens to the led matrix.

I obviously have the wrong box. So my questions are:

1. What does a 72760 actually do - just in case I can use it for something?
2, Or if it should do what I want, how do I wire it?
3. If not, which Marklin box can I buy (if there even is one)?

My good friend Google tells me it's a control box that sends out at digital signal, meant to control "Advanced signals" Blink

https://www.maerklin.de/...s/details/article/72760/

What you need is something like an old-fashioned 7072 or similar, AND a power-supply that gives the correct voltage for you LEDs.

7072 seems to be a momentary contact switch. Press the button and let go. I need a good old SPDT switch but would like to use a Marklin unit if possible.

You are right, it should have been 7071 ( I think ) BigGrin

There are newer versions with feedback; but you have no use for the feedback. ( 72710, I think )

The newer ones could be easier to find though.

I'm not familiar with these old item numbers, so I have to use my friend Blink BigGrin

Looking at the 72710 is is actually a latching switch? It seems to send pulses to one or other solenoid on the point motor or have I got this wrong?

Hi,

I know you said you wuld prefer to stay with a Maerklin product, but have a look at the Viessmann 5550 Universal switch box. Very nice spdt switches.

Cheers!
Best Regards,
Don

That looks just the job except that I liked the one button, two lights type of box. Methinks that I could build a four channel box cheaper than the Veissmann one with red and green leds to show the status.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Oh, I thought this was what you wanted Cool

I don't know if there's a SPDT in the program.

That’s the one. Many thanks. As a newbie I am still finding the Märklin world to be confusing. Suggestions that I “google it” aren’t really helpful so thank you again for your help.

Hi David

I have a 72730 which is surplus to requirements, shall I drop it in the post to you?

I’m curious too, sorry if already answered and i’ve Missed it somehow, but are the switches in 72710 momentary contact or latching? I’m interested in making a custom control panel with LED feedback, i’m Wondering if M achieve this through electronics inside the box and send momentary power to the solenoids OR if they are latching switches which rely on the micro switches within the point motor to cut the power?
Must build something
