Britannia chases Galatea up Shap 30/5/15 - Duration: 10:30

Footage of a very rare event in the mainline steam world where we see two steam tours without diesel involvement attacking the climb up Shap simultaneously on Saturday 30th May 2015. We first see Jubilee Class 45699 'Galatea' attacking the climb pulling

'The Cumbrian Coast Express' and then in the same frame we see Britannia Class 70000 'Britannia' closely following and awaiting the signals to clear for her attack on the summit.

Best Comment:
"Both climbing Shap without bankers, and running block on block. Practically unheard of even in steam days, Great video."

Didn't know there was a HMS Galatea? and I was hoping that this being a train forum would hint at the content LOL

I wonder if the close running had anything to do with the diesel (or electric too far away) express coming up in third place toward the end of the video? BigGrin
