Hi,

I bought a Lokpilot FX to control the lighting in my coaches but the function light output doesn't use track as ground, so it basically needs two wires between coaches and just current conducting coupler on their own won't do it. Any solution to this?

Thanks

You can use the function decoder driving a relay whose power contacts connect the slider to the single wire conductive couplers all over the consist, and current returns to track through wheels in each coach.

Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines but a relay would be too big to fit in the coach and then I'd be looking at soldering in a transistor... Hmm.

If your coaches are not too power hungry you can use a solid state relay like this

much smaller and easy to use. The control side is an LED, so it requires just a resistor, the power side is a single pole switch.

Some mechanical micro-relays are 7x12mm so not very large and easily tucked away in the ends I would.

Thanks,

Will try one of those micro-relays.
