I have a couple of the old Viessmann 5211 switch decoders and I need more for my layout. Does any body have tried the new decoders from Viessmann, Marklin, ESU and other brands? Marklin decoders look like ESU ones. What are the difference between white M83 vs new black M83 version? I have a old CS2 60213. May get a CS3plus in the future and also connect a PC with some software. Other posible brand is littfinski datentechnik (ldt) does anyone here use this decoders?

There is also a cheaper Viessmann 5280. Don’t know what are the differences.

Hello! I did just bought CS3 and are planned to buy an Märklin m84 with mfx. Difference from the old and the new are protocol and type of programming with the CV adress. Also to use external power source like 66360 from the old 66361. To use external power you need also power supply unit 60822. m83 60831 m84 60841 m83 60832 mfx m84 60842 mfx It´s also difference with the catalog number. Other manufacturer do also have turnout/switch decoder with MM/DCC protocol and should also work with the Märklin system. Depends if your system stand with correct set protocol next to decoder. |

Hi...you may use different brands of decoder on you layout, you use a starting address that is a multiple of 8 plus one. Then it will work more simply with anything like the Hornby 8247 that uses group addresses. You won't then have point or signal numbers you. one-stop pcbEdited by user 10 January 2019 22:48:25(UTC)

For my Marklin turnouts I use Lenz LS150 decoders. They are DCC and can have 6 paired outputs compared to the standard 4. |
