Analog 3000 with 600190 bulb.

UserPostedImage

Can I use 600100 LED with no additional wiring or resistors ?
I mean, simply replace 600190 with LED 600 100, the socket being the same.

Another 3000 with decoder switched off, e.g. runs analog but the light is not bright enough.
The same question.

Thank you.

Hi Ivan,

There are some mismatches: 600190 is a 1.8V type. This is not used at any 3000 models. 600100 is a conventional bulb. There are after-market offers for LEDs with E5.5 socket and included resistor which can be used to replace 600100. I would not use them in conventional (non-digital) operation.

Regards

Markus

Thank you.
Actually I made a mistake / it was NOT 600190 as shown in the image but E600100 conventional bulb.

Now I`m confused because when I enter E600100 Glühlampe = conventional bulbs are offered.
When I enter the same number 600100 but with LED added, I get many offers described as LED 600100 16-22V.
So, in spite being the same voltage, LEDs cannot simply replace conventional 600100 bulbs ?
You will excuse my ignorance,please.
Thank you again.

Hi Ivan,

The LED - version of the 600100 is an after-market version offered by some dealers. It is not a Märklin-product. But the dealers use the Märklin-number, to make their product findable by search-engines. These bulbs have an internal resistor and can be used with 16-22V. But I would not use them in conventional operation where higher voltages are usual while switching. Traditional bulbs are not affected from the short over-voltage. But LEDs are. These LED-bulbs are intended for digital operation.

Markus

Hi Markus,
Everything is clear now.
Makes sense in regard of the initial current when switching on being many times higher than the working current.
Even ordinary bulbs at home always burn out when switched on.
Did not know LED are more sensitive to voltage changes. Will probably try them on very low initial voltage, then slowly increase.
I suppose it cannot do any harm except for burnt out LED which is not such a big waste.
Have made myself internal passenger cars lights with Märklin 610080 E610080 Stecklämpchen and they do well in analog.

Thank you again,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Did you understand how an analogue loco switches the direction? This is done by an pulse of +25VAC, depending on the transformer model you use. You can only switch this pulse on and off. This pulse will kill the LEDs sooner or later (likely sooner). In analogue operation I also see no advantage in using the LEDs.
600080 are traditional bulbs, no LEDs. These have no problem with that higher voltage for a short-time.

Regards

Markus

I see what you mean. You have solved all my dilemmas caused by my rather limited knowledge.
I will feel free to ask for your expert advice whenever there is a problem.
When I retired I found my son`s old trains and try to bring them to life.Besides, my health deteriorated and Marklin is helping me to forget the reality as much as possible.
Thank you again.
