Hello Peoples,

So I made the mistake of purchasing some AC signals without doing sufficient research before hand (I'm an idiot I know). Anyway, I don't think it will be a major muck up but I thought I'd ask to try be sure. I bought the Home Light Signal Marklin 7240, and the Warning/Distance Light Signal Marklin 7236. I later found an old wiring book that had a table of the home light signals and their corresponding distance signals (attached image). I didn't even think that there would be incompatibilities. Anyway the distance signal that is compatible with home signal (Marklin 7240) is Marklin 7237. 7237 looks very similar to 7236 but I'd like to know ifI can break the rules and use the distance signal 7236 (instead of 7237) with 7240?

Cheers in advance.

I can't see any difference between 7236 and 7237. Must be some subtle change.

I am sure you can use it with the 7240

7236:
Changes from yellow/yellow (Vr0) to green/green (Vr1)

7237:
Changes from yellow/yellow (Vr0) to yellow/green (Vr2)

The 7240 Changes from red (Hp0) to green/yellow (Hp2) so the warning given by the 7236 is incorrect for the 7240 home signal. You need the 7237 for this signal.

The 7236 is correct for the 7239 which changes from red (Hp0) to green (Hp1).

Mind you, no-one would notice if the aspect of the distant signal does not match your home signal, would they? BigGrin

Wanna know something about German signals and Märklin signals?

http://www.polar.sunynas...u/~fanellis/signals.html

and from Märklin itself

https://www.maerklin.de/...pur-h0/zubehoer/signale/

https://www.maerklin.de/de/lp/2017/signale/

if you scroll down there is a video as well

whereas here is a brochure from Märklin about its actual signals

https://www.maerklin.de/...x210_8seitig_1222_DE.pdf

Sorry some texts are only available in German - you may want to translate it I recommend this translater software

They've got to match BigGrin. I'll see if the seller will swap it as he is selling 7237 for the exact same price. Thanks all.

The 7238 does all three aspects and goes with the 7241 home signal.
