The European Division of my model rr is Märklin with M-track and catenary. The track and catenary work fine! I have some Fleischmann rolling stock, but I noticed that on my North American Division because the flanges are so deep that the wheels actually run on the spikes/ties (code 100 track). I must admit that I am collecting Fleischmann HO now since it is no longer produced. I think that it would be easiest to replace a Märklin coupler on a Märklin car with a Fleischman coupler to have a transition car so I can use Fleischmann cars on my M-track layout. Has anybody replaced Märklin couplers with Fleischmann couplers? Do you have any tips for doing this, and where would Fleischmann couplers be available, eBay maybe? Thanks. John

It used to be possible to purchase NEM couplers with the Fleischmann coupler head. I think that both Roco and Fleischmann offered these.
In order to use these, the models had to be equipped with a NEM socket to accept interchangeable couplers.

Fleischmann and Roco also had adapter couplings which allowed for the installation of normal hook coupler (Maerklin type) or Roco Close Coupler heads on some Fleischmann models.

Hi John,
I do it all the time - but in reverse.
I think it is easier to replace the Fleischmann coupler, and Mike has shown a few relevant links.
If you think that will work, please be more specific about which Fleischmann you would wish to convert.

Fleischmann stock originally (1950+) came with a riveted coupler mount, then a pull-out-pin mount, then the NEM socket style.
