I would like to get a link where the theory of Maerklin operation is explained in details. - How the analog trains power supply work, what is the voltage minimum maximum, is it AC? - How the digital works? I have a starter kit which contains a DC power supply, but as far as I know the Maerklin work on AC. Thanks Yossi

AC is alternating current, DC is direct current, but it seems to me you are writing about the use of "digital current"? Digital current is neither AC nor DC, it is a mixture of both. For this mixture of currents the ETH Zuerich has set up the artifical word "digital current". Shortly and simple described as a picture: digital current is an "interrutpted rectangle wave". For more details search in the internet about "pulse-width modulation" (PWM) please. https://en.wikipedia.org...i/Pulse-width_modulationhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_currentIt is a complete different topic. But Maerklin always use AC (you always see it because of the pukos - German abbriviation for "Punktkontakt", do not know an English word for it - in the middle of any track) and Trix DC without the pukos in all tracks. The puko-tracks got two "track-lines", the bar left and right plus the puko row in the middle of the track, it is named as a 3L (three line) system (technically it is not correct!). The Trix is because of the missing puko line in the middle of the track named as a 2L system. This refers to the supply with the traction current and mass of the lcocomotives or other energy consumer (e.g. coaches with a red rear light) running over the tracks. On the other hand this tells you to keep your tracks and wheels of the locos clean, otherwise your locos will not run any more. But the trains, decoders, etc. use the digital current. But the only one link does not exist and Maerklin does not provide you with the theory of current or better electrical energy. They write something here and there about elctrical theory like cabeling https://www.maerklin.de/.../MM_Verkabelung_2013.pdfor of Maerklin digital https://www.maerklin.de/...-about-maerklin-digital/etc. but not a complete book about digital current. Nevertheless meanwhile Maerklin issued 2 books about the digital MRR. One book "Controlling Digitally with the Central Station 3" (art # 03082 in German; art # 03092 in English) https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/03092and Gauge H0 - Article No. 03070 "Returning/Changing Over to Digital Model Railroading" https://www.maerklin.de/...ts/details/article/03070@DaleSchultz and @amartinzev provided you with some other good links already. Similar links I know in German too. Because when I restarted with my relaunched-hobby MRR I had similar questions as you got now. Indeed plenty sources with even more information to study. But over the time you will get, where are you looking for. What is a digital model railroad? How is it functioning? regards TEEWolf

Interesting, thank you. If I may, a side question. Is this also the theory of DAB (I believe Digital Audio Broadcasting?
Thanks.
