Hi,
My name is Felix,I leave in Malaysia,I am 52 years old.I bought this CS3 Marklin on oct 2017 and today my CS3 screen was damage due to accident.
I have contacted Marklin dealer in Malaysia and they told me I have to send back the item to Marklin germany for repair.

Have anyone having such experience especially the repair cost is wort it or not or should I buy new one ? If I have to send back to Marklin they will charge me 80euro for the services without the parts replacement.

The power and the screen still functioning and the touch screen also still functioning but only on the right side but the left side(corner) is not functioning when U touch.

Anyone can suggest me any Marklin specialist or any suggestion to assist me how to repair my CS3?

I forward the picture of my CS3 screen damage .

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

Well, the sad news is that to repair it you will need to send it back to Marklin.

However if you can live with the cracked screen then plug an ordinary USB mouse into it and that will move the cursor around and allow you to select items.

As an alternative you could try contacting a local repair outfit that replaces screens on phones and GPS receivers. They will need to open it to ascertain the manufacturers part number for the touch screen portion to see if they can source a replacement part.

Another alternative would be to contact the New Zealand Marklin distributor @toottoot and see if they can source the required spare touch screen from marklin. I know the owner of toottoot has electronics expertise, and this would not be a problem for him.

Welcome Felix at marklin-users.net,

even it does not look like a "felix" (= happy) reason for your joining.BigGrin

Did you wrote to Maerklin in Germany already? They have a special service department for such repairs and I think this is cheaper as to buy a new one - even with postage from Malaysia.

https://www.maerklin.de/...ervice/reparaturservice/

These are the addresses for the Maerklin repair services, if you did not have seen them yet. You get access to this page only via Märklin's German website. When they are doing the repair, you do not loose the still existing guarantee.

Write them a mail with the picture and asking about the complete costs. I used their service once after I had damaged the body of a Diesel loco seriously. They repaired it perfectly for a very reasonable price. I guess I paid for the new body in total about 50 € incl postage. I had expected higher costs.

OK, I live in Germany and postage is not a major item. Perhaps you get a look at DHL.com first.

Regards

TEEWolf

Probably not work but if you have home insurance it might cover accidental damage and you could claim on the policy for the repair cost. A repair by Marklin may take some time as they are not very fast with repairs.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Repair on CS2 screen cost 255 EUR five years ago

I think screen repair cost between 300 and 350 on CS3.

Hello Felix,

Welcome to the Forum, but sorry to see your problem.

Don't bother sending it to Marklin to repair it, just get a new one.

Why? Firstly, the postal costs to Germany and the return costs won't be cheap. Moreover, unless you want to wait at least 2-3 months (my conservative estimate) to have it repaired and returned, this is the probable wait time you'll have to endure.

Furthermore, don't expect to the service (repair) department to give you prompt 'service', despite the sky high cost of repair. They are swamped with other enthusiasts claims over decoders and other electronics that don't work.

I know this from first hand experience with a broken Loco that they could not repair. A manufacturer who cannot repair an item they produced?!? I also visited the Marklin 'museum' in April where they have a repair counter. Not impressed.....

It's not worth the trouble or cost to send it back. Just my 2 cents worth....

Lou

Hi!

I wouldn't recommend you going to one of the local repair shops and have them try and replace the screen. A number of these repair shops use cheap LCD modules which may not give you the exact resolution and quality and may have sub par touch sensitivity.

Shipping back to the factory should not cost you more than US$40. It is still worth getting it repaired by Marklin service but that is just my two cents.

You may want to contact Marklin authorized dealers in Singapore - Thrilling Toyz (info@thrillingtoyz.com) and Beam Tragel (bemersp@singnet.com.sg). They maybe able to help you.

Cheers

Chris
