Today it feels like Christmas or when I had a birthday as a child. Love BigGrin

I owe a very big "Tausend Dank" to Scott at Helmuts Hobbies & Paul a.k.a CCS800KrokHunter3.

I purchased a CCS 800 from Paul (KrokHunter3) sometime in April. This unit was in great shape just like Paul described and in the photos & videos he sent me. Thank you Paul for taking so much time to make the video and to take all the photos. It took me a while to make the final decision since we were talking about various other items he had for sale as well. I had fun for the first day or two after she arrived.

well, the last few months I seem to have broken more things than fixed. Cursing

A few days after receiving the Krokodil (Crocodile) from Paul I pulled the center section off and the nose pieces to do some cleaning & oiling. Unfortunately, I moved the reversing unit around to much and I broke off the small wire in the coil, deep in the coil where it could not be soldered. Cursing Cursing Cursing Cursing

I did find a replacement coil from Tim Eckert with Eckert Engineering and a friend in Potsdam Germany got me one from TNT in Frankfurt as well. I was too worried about doing any more damage so I sent it off to Scott at Helmuts Hobbies and I am sure happy I did. After Helmuts Hobbies recieved the Lok, Scott called me and recommended the motor & gears be cleaned since the ancient grease should be removed as well as a bunch of caked up dirt & dust from the years. Plus he offered a different solution to the reversing unit. So I went this route and will keep the original reversing unit & coils for safe keeping when the time comes for a different owner.

I agreed, but Ich habe keine Ahnung (I had not idea!) what Scott meant by cleaning. Laugh

Not only did he clean the motor, he took the whole Lokomotiv apart and cleaned each Piece.LOL

Wow, sure sure runs nice, like the day she rolled out of the factory.

Vielen Dank Scott (Helmuts Hobbies) and Paul!

Märklin ist beste!

I hope the video clip does it and Scott's work justice.

Fantastic!!!

You can tell the wheels move with incredible ease now... what a great runner with a nice string of rolling stock.

Best,

Shouldn't you now rename your avatar name to "Green Crocodile"?BigGrin

Indeed it is a very nice antique loco. There you obviously understand some German, here a small selection of links for more information about your Märklin 3015. I am still waiting for my first Crocodile - the insider one from this year. I have to confess, I am getting impatient meanwhile. Well, I am searching some information about the croc in the internet to bridge the waiting time.

Rich - That's one heck of a nice Krok you got from Paul and beautiful repair and clean up work from Scott. Make sure you add this lok to your collection in the Wiki. Thanks for sharing the video.

That's a GREAT Krok Rich! And you were definitely right to send it to Scott for servicing: I've had him work on a couple of my locos and highly recommend him to anyone looking to either service or even convert older models to digital operation. I have four Kroks myself, but my two favorites are my 3015 and 30159 -- pure analog and destined to remain that way!
