Hello all Marklin Friends,

I just got myself a single car from the Beer Festival Car Set (Marklin 28972) with the people. I dont have the locomotive or passenger car.
Wonder if I can hook up a pickup shoe on the base and run the red wire from the shoe to the current conducting couplers?
So I can have the lights working.

Is this feasible?

The car is equipped with current conducting couplers. I don't know if the car is equipped for the installation of a slider, but if you have another car/coach/locomotive with a slider, you can connect that by wire to the current conducting coupler on that car and feed the lights on the new car that way. In the set, the power was provided from the locomotive.

Putting a slider on a 2 axle car - is that possible/complex? I've got no idea but think that may be a bit of a problem as it doesn't seem intuitive, as its gotta ride under the axle and now be very short too.

Maerklin used to sell a slider for 2 axled cars for powering the taillight. I don't know if they are still available on ebay or at certain dealers. The slider mounted on the axles and was pretty stable.

Ended up using a 7075 slider with the black insulation box removed. screw and metal fastener on top is perfect.
Tried a 7076, but the clips and hook for the axle are too far apart.
So a 7075 worked perfect.
The body of the wagon is all plastic and drilled a hole to pass the screw through.
Soldered some short lengths of wire from the screw plate to the contacts on the wagon.
Assembled the top and bottom back together and Voila! Lights came on when put on the track.
Will submit a photo.

I remember I once had one on a guard's van. The taillight had a bulb and was about scale size of the searchlight on a warship.Flapper

See the slider #7075 worked like a charm and allowed the delicate brake shoe flimsy thing to stay.
