Hi collector friends,

I have been working on some 700/800 series (mostly pre-war) locos to get them running again. Amazingly some ran right out of the box after clearly being in storage for many years. I made some videos and would appreciate any feedback you have:

I experimented with some music and quick transitions. I only have an oval setup at the moment so there are limit angles and such but thought I would give it a try.

I also created a Pinterest board to track what are in my opinion some of the best vintage Marklin videos out there:

Best wishes,

Paul

Good video.

I got SK800 unboxed two months ago for cheaper £80. Running very good but some paint chip marked on body.

Nice work on the video Paul. I like it - what version is the SK 800 in your video?

Hi Rich

Thanks for your kind words. The SK 800 is an immediate post-war piece but uses pre-war parts since it was produced in 1945. Here's a photo:

sk 800

You can see it has 7-splints and this version of the shell was pre-war but was also used up to and including the year 1945. In 1946 there are then 6-splints. Bruniert "burnished" housings exist in both 1945 and 1946...some in early 1947 to varying degrees as well. In 1945 and 1946 both pre-war and post-war (new production) parts were used but by 1946 they likely ran out of pre-war parts and starting making SK 800 exclusively with newly produced parts.

Best,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Nice video ! ThumpUp
Great to see old stock running so smoothly.
And there is nothing wrong with a small test oval.

Paul - You know that I've got a thing for SK800's and you have a nice looking one there that's running well. Your cinematography skills are top notch. Looking forward to seeing new videos in the coming weeks.
