And here's a 1951 ad from the Australian "Sunday Herald" newspaper. Note the missing "Umlaut" above the A in Marklin.

I noted rather that the ad emphasized that they were the only perfect scale OO gauge models made. Did Maerklin really make OO gauge models in those days, or was it just that the Aussie ad copywriters thought HO was German for OO?

As far as I understand, Marklin had stopped using OO to describe its models in 1949. So definitely an attempt to localize the ad for the export market.
