Gentlemen,

I recently acquired a Maerklin 34619 RE460 but I am annoyed by the Delta running characteristics, in particular the noise it makes.

Is Maerklin 60760 the way to go to resolve this issue? Are there any other cheaper or better alternatives?

Secondly, how do I integrate LED lights into the 60760 set-up so lights do not flicker (as is the case currently) and still follow the Swiss lights convention?

Many thanks!

Hi!

The 60760 is the cheapest solution - and you get what you pay for.
Better option: Motor set 60941 with a decoder of your choice (ESU, Zimo, Märklin, ...).

The 60760 cannot be used if you want advanced light functions.

Light-bulbs only flicker when you wire them in the stupid cost-cutting Märklin way. The board in the loco is prepared for flicker-free lights. I would keep light bulbs.
Regards
Tom

Thank you Tom. To stop the flickering, is it a simple matter of re-soldering one side of the bulb to decoder ground?

This is the most helpful video I have found
and I will be following that to the tee. Do you know how is the Swiss light arrangement at 16:08 is done? and through which wire?

There is an older but quite informative thread here on using the 60760

HERE
Don't look back, your not heading that way.

Yes, the PCB in the loco is prepared for that.

If you use the PCB, you get 3+1 light that changes with the direction with just two function outputs. That's about the best you can expect with a 60760 decoder.

With a better decoder you can bypass the PCB and use four function outputs to control each bulb individually. I would use the decoder function mapping to get the light patterns I want.
One function button will activate 3+1 that changes with the direction while other buttons allow me to active each bulb individually.
