I bought a starter set 81864 and they say in the listing use extension sets 8192 or 8193, 8194. What do extension sets do? Do they just give you track or do they tell you instructions telling you what it will make with this set. I just don't want to buy track without knowing what it will make. Anyone use extension sets before? Thanks Ron

Hi, Darticus:

The extension sets mentioned just add track and fun to running your trains. Below, I set out the link to these sets that shows you what they look like and what they do:

Extension sets

There is nothing magical or difficult to follow: It's just a matter of ADDING to what you already have and have more variety and hence more fun.

If this is still unclear, maybe you can ask more specific questions so we can pin point where the confusion/concern is.

Hope this helps.

Below, I also add the link to the Z starter set no 81864 Darticus bought, a very nice one. ThumpUp

Hi Ron, I've just got myself an 81864 set too! In it there should be a booklet which shows layouts you can build with the set and with additional extension sets.

You probably 'stole' the one I was looking at - did you get your set from MBS Fisher by any chance - he had quite a few?!

Lol I have one too, it s awesome. Still the loco appears to have a little low pulling power. But it s still an awesome set.
second
@darticus: If I recall correctly, the 81864 set has already one expansion pack from the set program (I think t3), which normally is the most expensive one too. So try to get one of the other ones :-).

Great info!
I ordered the t1 8192 set to add the set.
I really wanted a layout that could run two trains different directions and a figure 8 in the middle. Without a million pieces of track to play with I'm having trouble building or thinking how to build something. Maybe just keep buying track.
How can I find out what tracks are needed to make a figure 8 under over? Thanks Ron
