I will now be more careful when working on the overhead on my layout, particularly given that it potentially carries 22,000 mVolts !! Regards, PJ

It reminded me that many such industrial accidents are a result of familiarity to the point of no longer being worried about the danger, and then you forget.. and it only takes one mistake. My grandfather told a story about a salt mine (literally) worker checking on the conveyor system that moved the waste salt up onto the top of the waste salt mountain. The system is similarly set up for experts in the industrial setting, so high power things are exposed. Very experienced worker, thought the system was running hot so he went to touch it to see how hot it was... and as it was a kilovolt power coil, that was the end of that. Familiarity around risk, breeds complacency, which gives birth to bad decision.

A steamer does not run on these tracks any longer. Nevertheless it still is a world wide problem and people are dying regularly. Here just a few more links. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_surfing Even the explanation below the video does not justify such action. remark below the video: published March 2nd, 2008 "Preformed by a German guy known as "the trainrider". Before he died from leukemia, he enjoyed the last year of his life by surfing on trains. Included Germany's fastest Highspeed train ICE with a top speed of 330 km/h(!) No one did that before. Never to be forgotten R.I.P." One further point may be added. From Hanau central station (as seen in the video) in any direction (going West: next stop will be Offenbach - Frankfurt/Main, South will be Aschaffenburg, East will be Fulda - 3 further routings are not served by ICE trains) no high speed track route must be used before the next train stop.
