What can anybody recommend to use on the Marklin system? Does anybody have the Roco 58510, and what do you think about it? |

Hi!
While I have not yet seen the production version of the Piko NS 2200; the prototype looked very promising. The Piko is due to pop up in stores shortly, whereas the Roco can be found in stock everywhere. This one has proven to run well on Märklin track, so I would say it is a safe and very affordable bet. Only real question (IMHO), is whether you would like a lot of detail, possibly sound and working blink lights (on the yellow/grey version). If so, wait for the Piko. On the other hand, if you're looking for a nice, fairly well detailed and affordable runner; do not hesitate and get yourself a Roco.
Hope this helps! |

Today I have ordered the Piko version and the sound decoder from Euro Rail Hobbies in Summerland, BC. I might have to wait a bit for them to show up, but I think I did buy the best version for me. For others other versions might be better, but so far I am happy with my decision. |

Hope this helps! Sander, I think the plastic handrails on the Roco are crap! They cannot get it right. The Piko looks much better. Years ago Marklin issued the first version of the NS 6400 Diesel and the importer refused to sell it because of the lousy handrails, even in the catalogue they looked crap! Even the good old 3065 had metal handrails decades ago! I too have a weak spot for the ever present NS 2200 in my youth, same for the NS 2400,but i will wait for Marklin to issue them.........,still 20 years to go before i am 81............. . Cheers, Paul. |

Hi Wildrose-Wally,
Think you've made a good choice. Hope you'll enjoy it! And as Paul hints upon; choosing for the Piko might save you from a handrail replacement job on the Roco later. Indeed, those are not the most striking feature of that model and the Piko ones look better...
Cheers! |

I had bought the Piko, had some trouble coupling. Bought the Roco, but did not really like it, so keeping the Piko, I will work out the coupling problem someday.
Have a surplus Roco model now, if you are interested it is yours. Any offer will be accepted. |
