My wife and I went to one of the nearby Large Scale shops spring open houses yesterday. While not sure close(4 hour drive each way), these shops are far and few between in the USA. He is not a Marklin dealer, but gets in estates of trains to sell. He had a small selection of Maxi in and my wife and I came home with most of it. She took some $$ from savings as the prices were to good to pass up. We also traded in her other G scale items that we were unable to run due to our sharp curves. We got the Union Pacific F unit powered/dummy pair, 2 UP passenger coaches at the matching caboose for her. I am going to repaint them into Chessie System as that is her favorite railroad and the Maxi will go around our curves. Plenty of room for onboard battery power in the non powered unit. She also got the Western Pacific box car and I got a European 4 axle flat car with 2 containers on it. Pics coming later today, we got home very late and I just woke up. Still have to unpack. The shop has a huge raised railway and we ran our LGB 2120 Stainz and 2073d Eurovapor lok's among the other trains being run during the open house. Mike and Michele T |
