It's about time to have a PKP lok.

Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.

I very often get pleasantly surprised at the Summer new items selection. I think I've bought something every summer for the last few years. Let's see what we get this year!

Using the full-length Trix mould or using the Märklin mould?

I have been expecting that Maerklin would at some point release an AC version of the Trix model. It would make sense for them to bring out additional special models to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Trans Europ Express trains.

Here are some other possibilities that we have not seen yet:

SBB Re 4/4I TEE with 4 coaches TEE Rheingold (Basel-Geneva) (like 42990 but 28cm)
TEE Roland Coach set (coaches were previously released as Trix 23477)
SBB RAe TEE II 6 coach set as TEE Gottardo or TEE Ticino

There are also a number of DB coach set possibilities plus BR 103, 112 and other models.

We will wait to see what the Summer New Items include (later today)

Regards

I expect Marklin to release bi-level Zurich S-Bahn coaches with Re 4/4II Lion locomotive. I hope they will also release the matching Steuerwagen for the S-Bahn train set. There was not much to excite the Swiss model train fans in the New Items 2017 assortment earlier in the year.

Cheers

They will - but if the information published yesterday can be trusted, then it will not be a model following the prototype, but a DB Steuerwagen painted in SBB livery. Angry ThumbDown Crying

That's nothing new.
They have one double-stock control car, suitable for (some) DB regional trains.
And they made some inappropriate livery variations for that mould, including DB double stock IC, CFL, and now SBB. I'm not sure whether or not the Metronome should be on that list.

Regards
Tom

No real news for me it would seem.
Many variations for earlier versions.
Also combinations of loco's and coaches released in different configurations earlier.
A DDR coachset made by Tillig,oh well.

I like the 26195 set with the E69 and the 26604 set with the Re4/4 I and the TEE train. I'll have to think about this as they are quite expensive, especially the TEE set.

Did anyone else notice that the 36431 BR233 / Ludmilla has smoking exhausts? Marklin finally catching up to ESU. Now if they'd only do that with G1 diesel locos, all would be well.

They left off a critical detail on the SBB TEE set- whether or not the locomotive will be carrying the "TEE" logo on its nose... No logo its really of zero interest to me. With logo I may sell my prior individually packaged cars and RE 4/4I for the set, since the TEE train is what I was trying to Emulate

I love the SBB start set (even if not prototypical), but I already have the Roco LION cars with the Marklin RE 4/4II, and the HAG Zurich S bahn, wich makes it hard to justify.

Nice catalogue though! Plenty of good stuff...

That, however, is not prototypical - the real loco only had one TEE sign which was changed according to the direction of the loco/train.

Cool. That gives me a better locomotive to pull the track cleaning train across the layout.
It will be interesting to see how the water based piezo smoke generator works over time.

36431

and interestingly enough just came across of photo of the actual locomotive prototype this is a model of:

The TEE Rheingold set is interesting, with a few minor corrections required… First, as Stefan stated, the locomotive should have the TEE crest on the leading front end and not on both sides. I also believe that the panorama coach should be lettered "Rheingold" and have 8 window sections. The coaches lettered "Deutsche Bundesbahn" were the ones used in the TEE Rheinpfeil.

Next model is the SBB Re 420 LION with S-Bahn HVZ coaches. The set finally comes with the AB coach. For anybody who bought the 37347 and the 43479, this set would appear to complete the HVZ consist. The problem here is that the livery of the coaches is the current livery, while the livery of the earlier 43479 represents the coaches as they appeared when first used with the LION trains.
To reproduce a prototypical consist, you would need to acquire two sets and two additional second class coaches.
The fantasy steuerwagen is not prototypical for SBB operation. The Re 420 consists always operate with a Re 420 at either end and no steuerwagen. This is not the "Voralpen Express", but I digress.

The 45806 MBC Faccns are definitely interesting. Too bad Maerklin makes the second series of Re 4/4II and not the first version with one pantograph (ex-BLS, ex-SBB) which could be released in the new MBC livery.

Exactly my thoughts, Mike! I will probably use the new 29487 Re 420 as the second loco in a consist with my 37347 and the two Roco 64132/33 AB-B-B sets (with 3 in stead of 4 B coaches to reduce length).
Hopefully the new Re 420 has a different number than the 37347.
Not sure yet what to do with the new AB-B coaches and fantasy Steuerwagen with the new logos. These would require a refurbished Re 450 DPZ+ loco (with 3 led headlights and large SBB front logo), for which HAG may be the best bet. I already have the 1st generation Re 450 by HAG with Fleischmann coaches and Steuerwagen with yellow doors to supplement the Mä 28505 coaches, and a Fleischmann Bt + AB with red doors and round ZVV logo to go with the Mä 43479 set.

For Adrian and Big Daddy's information , I am still wearing a T shirt. Temp did drop last night enough for us to put a blanket on the bed. We had drought up here for nearly 3 months. Got a good licking of rain compliments from Oz this week though.

Using the full-length Trix mould or using the Märklin mould?

Trix mould for sure.
Don't look back, your not heading that way.
