I'd love to drop in just for the weekend, but I need the money for other things, like eating...

Was just watching a clip of Doris helping a plane landing sideways somewhere north of Watford - Leeds Bradford I think - and decided despite numerous model railway delights across the UK this weekend I will have a nice cosy weekend by the fire at home.

Yes. Not the best time to be travelling! ThumbDown

I was at the exhibition today and complained to them about the brevity of their HO brands (Electrotren, Jouef and Rivarossi). The explanation I was given was that they are having quality problems with their suppliers in China and this will restrict the ranges until this resolved.
The new Hitachi sets illustrated in the blog look very attractive but at a coach length of 340 MM they will be longer than anything else on the market. On even radius 2 (17.5 in.) the overhang will be horrendous.
The Peckett 04-0 saddle tank which can be seen in a video is a beautiful little model. Unfortunately the initial three varieties were all totally sold out before delivery.

I also spoke with the Oxford Rail stand. They said they have fewer problems as they manufacture everything in house apart from motors and electronics. This unfortunately has led to a delay in their latest locomotive as the motors come from China and it has just been the Chinese new year.

Traveling through to Glasgow this morning in the aftermath of Doris it was a beautiful sunny morning with fresh snow gleaming on the hills. The wind here was a lot less yesterday than it was down south.

yeah, tell me about it. Luckily the winds weren't as bad in the south, but I had to drive from Didcot down to Portsmouth (around an hour and quarter each way) for work, in a Ford Galaxy which has 166k miles, and I think the shock absorbers are on the way out. Bounced around a bit, but the traffic was pretty good and it turned out an uneventful trip.
