Marklin 37462.jpgMarklin 42164.jpg
Ok, a bit of a story to start - sorry if I am a bit long-winded.
I was travelling from Zurich to Liechtenstein (Zurich HBF-Sargans on the Zurich-Chur line) in 2012 and I absolutely loved the train journey and my time in Liechtenstein. I decided to buy a model version of the train that took me on that journey for my Hornby (boo hiss!) layout. Being somewhat naïve, I bought the Marklin loco 37462, a nice red SBB 460 and the 42164 carriage set (both pictured above).

I have now embraced Marklin and am working on a layout themed to that region of the SBB - Does anyone know a website where I can find the exact composition of one of the SBB IC trains that go from Zurich HBF to Chur, or better yet, live in Zurich and could take some photos of one for me?

I know that this is probably somewhat pedantic, but for those who know me, I like my accuracy...

If anyone can help you can message me here, or comment on the post so anyone else who may be interested (however unlikely) can see.

Exact compositions can be determined here if you know the train number (or the time you traveled): http://www.reisezuege.ch

But you should perform your research before the next weekend when the timetable changes.

If you have jumped on Maerklin 3 Rail AC, you can find locomotives from other companies like Roco, L.S. Models, ACME, Hag, etc that will also work on the 3 Rail Maerklin tracks.
You could also get 2 Rail DC versions of those models that could be used on a standard Hornby (Triang) layout.
Those companies also make models, many of them in exact 1/87 scale, that can be used with either AC or DC (some may require wheelset swap)

Stephan pointed you to a site that shows Swiss consists. If you go to a website like Eyro.ch, Roundhouse.ch or Bahnorama.ch, you can get a good idea of what is out there.
You can also check ebay.de or ricardo.ch and search for SBB in Modellbau

I have many consists in HO, made up from models from the brands mentioned above in addition to the Maerklin ones.

As you have the 37462 and 42164, I would recommend that you consider adding the 42160 set (additional second class coaches), the 42174 restaurant (coming soon) and maybe get yourself one or two of the Eurocity Apm or Bpm coaches from the 43671 set or from the 29463 Set as seen here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/A...teilig-NEU-/291523674957

You can see thousands of real Swiss trains on Youtube, this is just an example

Züge in der Abendsonne zwischen Chur und Zürich mit Churfirsten am Walensee

once you have seen the first video, Youtube will suggest others related and you will never stop watching trains Smile Smile

Excellent, that's absolutely perfect. I can't remember the exact time, but it was Monday 05/03/12 that I took the train, so that helps me narrow it down greatly.

I can't thank you enough, although my wallet probably doesn't haha.

Yes, this info helps. You can search for the timetable period 2012, and for a Monday morning it might have been one of the IC trains with the numbers 559, 561, 565, 567 or 569 traveling from Basel via Zurich to Chur. These would have consisted of an Re 460 plus either EW IV (as in your Marklin set) or IC 2000 double-deck coaches.
