Happen to be in the right place at the right timeThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Was visiting MiWula last 27 September, showing my grandsons (as promised a few years ago) one of the greatest layouts ever constructed.

The family enjoying MiWula

Received notification from MiWula the day before that the new Italian section would be officially opened (with media and special guests - didn't recognise them - but I'm just a simple Aussie, with eats and drinks thrown in) that morning we were to attend. They apologised that part of the display would be closed until 13:30 that afternoon and would open after the festivities were completed.

So we hurried from our hotel rooms, to be there at opening time and hoping to see the closed off section - Switzerland - before the celebrations started. I achieved the distinction of being the first customer through the doors that day...woohooThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Had a look around, enjoyed the airport, the rest of the family (wife, son, his two sons, daughter, her husband and two sons - grandsons ages 9, 7, 6, 5) had a great time seeing what was available. Had a nice lunch, and 13:30 rolled around.

Somehow we miscalculated (actually they opened the new section a bit earlier) and when we got to Italy, it was packed.

Between my son-in-law and myself we managed to get a few photos.

Some photos were posted on the facebook page of the this forum, so apolgise for the repeat.

Some of the photos posted here will look repetitive, and there isn't many close ups or videos as it was hard to find a good position without getting bumped, but they are still a joy to watch.

Please enjoyThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

We couldn't see the rest of Switzerland, as , again, the place was packedSneaky Sneaky Scared Cursing ThumbDown ThumbDown

Course the day had to end in the shop, where a few souvenirs were purchasedThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

PS before the Italian section, they had made up a string of dioramas, showing the same section of Germany starting from BC and going to the end of the war and another set of Dioramas showing a section of Berlin (which of course included the Wall) from the end of the war to today, absolutely brilliant, but, didn't have a chance to take photos, maybe next year.

Hello Dusan,

Thank you for this wonderful post. What marvelous modelling.

I do like the Italian section - it looks just like the real Rome, even the Pons Aemilius remnant !!
I particularly like the model of "The Typewriter" !!

Regards,

PJ

Hello Dusan,

Thanks for sharing your lovely experience at Miniatur Wunderland! I'm super envious because I'm also a big fan of the Italian addition! I've never seen it in person only on YouTube.

My wife and I have been watching the video movies from Miniatur Wunderland on the planning and construction of Bella Italia. We watched all of the videos, from Bella Italia 2.0 Folge 1: Der Gleisplanto thru to Bella Italia 2.0 - Episode 21: Colosseum.

You can start the series from the link which is below. The videos are in German. As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans do! Having it in German add a lot of life to the series. It helps me with learning German as I already know some German and for me it's the best way to watch! genießen!

genießen!

Regards,

Michel

Great Photos!
The amount of sources of inspiration at MiWuLa are infinite. One question though, the section that has the Monaco letters done in a stone sort of look, are they going to build Monaco there at some point? I would love to see some more ho scale yachts.
Thanks,
Matthew

Thanks Dusan! Great memories for yourself and the grandkids! This section was under construction during my last visit, but the completed work looks like it's worthy of another (immediate) visit!

Cheers,
Brian

Wonderful - thanks for all these photos. BigGrin The airport alone is amazing - I understand it cost euro 1m. Love Did you have a chance to look at any of their books in the store? Do they describe the techniques to build such great models?

Absolutely Bloody Awesome Dusan. There are some incredibly talented people around. Wish we had something like that in NZ but cant see it ever happening as we are too small and it wouldn't be financially viable. bugger.

Great photos. ' Think I am going to have a look at this thread on a daily basis to take it all in.
