This beauty has arrived for a week. The painting is impressive and awesome.
Many handrails and pipelines are made of metal. Packaged in a wooden box with a pair of groves included as the brass car set.

And with pistons (aka Kolbenstangenschutzrohren) positioned, she even looks the more beautiful...

Thanks for sharing picture. I often browse your website reviewing the pictures of locomotives. BigGrin

To prevent the leading wheels from jam by pistons while running on curve tracks, I still keep them in the plastic bag.

Compared to Marklin, Brawa makes S2/6 more precise, detailed and realistic especially replicates the valve gear even though the model released was older than Marklin for many years.

Marklin shall think about what the position of product is and how to surpass the same products from the competition of other brands.

With larger radii curves you can use pistons.
I think it´s over 500 mm radii curves you need?

Well, indeed BRAWA produces often more detailed engines, but they are also more expensive. But Maerklin locos are already expensive enough. Less details are sometimes much better: you may not get as scared as by more expensive, more detailed locos to ruin them quick and easy.

I want to use my locos more as a toy for driving and not carrying them around with white gloves, because the product is too fragile. These are total different target groups of customers. Both have their existing right, but they are different.

For me, Maerklin has not the intention to surpass their followers. They may do what they want, because Maerklin is the market leader. I think Maerklin is more under pressure by its customers to manufacture reasonable products by a good cost-benefit ratio in a good quality. I also got a S 2/6 a few weeks ago and have a wheel spin problem with the engine. This must not be by a product for about 500 €. Although I like this steamer very much. It is running very smooth, I like the colour, very detailed, unfortunately too fragile for me.

Hopefully in the near future I can have a dustproof layout so one can leave the locos on the layout without taking them off and on all the times and there is the chance one will not break or loose bits and pieces.

Hello John,

well, yes, my problem too. Loosing parts form my rolling material by handling them. But sometimes I have to take them off from my layout just to separate eg coaches. I do have various types of couplers. Some do not like each other and then they get very nasty for separation.

To get rid of the dust on top of my rolling material, I bought a cosmetic brush (very soft brush with flexible hairs). Either I let the coaches running beneath it or I just wish softly over the locos. I am astonished as good as it is functioning.

But who do get your layout "dustproof"? What will you do?

regards

TEEWolf

For a while I tried covering the layout with a dust sheet when not in use, but this only led to more breakage of layout details.

I use a new half inch paint brush to clean the dust of my locos and stock. The bristles are just soft enough not to damage to details.

With the price of perspex these days I plan on covering the whole layout when finished. Maybe the thickest flexible (can be rolled up) for the cover..... sort of like a pool cover.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Hi Shamu, sounds like you are better now????

beware of soft covers. If you have a cat like miss Hyde, then they are not ideal. Best to leave your set uncovered or may a solid perspex cover that the cats can dance on and not touch your setup.

Miss Hyde is very gentle walking over my set up until something moves , then it all turns the s.... . I havn't ever covered mine yet, but it is pretty basic right now.

I never liked the blue! But looking at that model I have changed my opinion, it is really stunning, elegant and very appealing. Thanks for sharing the photos, enjoy it.

Should arrive in the following days. Can't wait .... BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

Today I got my 37017!!!BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

She is amazing. Great loco, great colors and great sounds. So happy I decided to get her. I must confess that ever since 37015 was announced I liked this model but I hesitated to get her (reading topics about the country of origin of those models). This way I lost the opportunity to get the 37015. So when I got the chance to acquire the 37016 (Black - Red DRG) I dared to get her. I was so happy with 37016, that I immediately ordered (for as long as she is still available) the gorgeous 37017.

I am sorry I doubted for their quality. They are both great!!! BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin
