Does anyone have an estimated delivery date for CS3/CS3 Plus? I have had CS3 Plus on order from a vendor since Feb 2016.

Märklin's official list:
http://www.maerklin.de/e...ormation/delivery-dates/

CS3+ coming this month, CS3 coming next quarter . without warranty. Previous announcement was June 2016.
Planned delivery dates are freely floating.

It's a very ambitious project, and the software isn't ready yet (though it's getting closer).

Mr Sieber doesn't want to launch the CS3 and then have to issue lots of fixes and software updates. I think he's right, and it's better to be patient than to have a bug-ridden product for customers to complain about!

Good point! Though now retired, I'm from the auto industry which is cursed with releasing defective products that must be fixed later. Same problem at Microsoft. Drives customers nuts.

I'll stick with my 60215 CS2 until the bugs for the CS3+ have all been figured out. I learned a long time ago in my career, that having the first batch of a newly released electronic product is usually an unhappy experience.

I would do the same if I had a CS2. But for those of us upgrading from an MS2 it doesn't seem wise to sink substantial bucks into a CS2 only to have it soon become outdated. Like the choice between buying a new or used car. There is always some risk in buying a new model. Decision may depend upon how much new model differs from old. While Marklin would have us believe that CS3+ is greatly improved over CS2, much of CS3+ remains same as CS2. Bottom line is that I'm willing to take the chance because of huge difference between MS2 and CS3+. (Could buy a CS2 but I don't see dealers cutting their prices yet.)

On the other hand, I made a big mistake accepting the upgrade to Windows 10 for which the interface is RADICALLY DIFFERENT from Windows 8.1. Microsoft needs to learn: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

And mere promises of delivery soon are cheap. We will see. Wish I knew how strong the CS3+ orders to Marklin are. That's what will control speed of delivery. If any business thinks it will make lots of money fast, it will deliver soon. Virtually no one delays production/delivery unless a quality problem is SEVERE. The several-month delay between annoncement and delivery suggests that orders are weak.

And there's the problem that because there is little money in the business, all manufacturers of all model products are taking their time and trying to shove the market toward build-to-order. We, the end users, are not Marklin's customer. Dealers are. Neither Marklin nor any other manufacturer are likely to move faster unless and until dealers start hollering.

Yes the CS3+ are late.
It seems they have some problem(s) to fix first.
I did read that Windows 10 do have problem and you know yourself, that CSx can only support Windows as operative system,if you for exemple shall download upgrades to the CSx.

Hello Goofy,

Never heard this wrong informations in my life. Where are they coming from?

The cs2 software is existing as Mac OS and Windows version. To update the cs2 you do not need neither mac OS nor Windows. Just connect the cs2 directly to the net or download the update on a stick with a pc with an operating system of your choice and connect the stick to the cs2.
The cs2 itself is running with a Linux operating system and is reachable trough a browser access to upload for example the locomotive icons. It doesn't matter under which operating system the browser is running.

So where is the only windows support of the CSx? I guess for the cs3 it will be the same

I met Mr. Seiber at Marklin Open days (Sept 17) and he said that they will begin shipping the first 100 units of CS3+ at end of September and will, by Christmas, ship all ordered CS3+ units. CS3 will be shipped later. Given that end of September is less then two weeks away that should be an accurate statement.

The forum reports of the comments by Mr. Seiber are very encouraging. A former dealer whom I know predicted that Marklin will ship to its German dealers first and US dealers later. Auslander (foreigners) may need to wait. It would be interesting to know whether the new Marklin management will operate as a truly international company servicing the largest dealers first regardless of their nationality. If so, the long neglect of the US market may end. We will see.

In any event it appears that good packages are coming for Christmas.

When the first CS3 boxes starts to burn, it would probably like to have it nearby for repairs.

Keep your CS2 like backup LOL

jonas sthlm,

Thank you for sharing this video. The Marklin CS3 seems very capable in running an automated layout.

Now that I have seen it I'm actually thinking of purchasing one when it is available. As mentioned on previous post I'm using the ESU ECoS to manage my K track layout. Since phase one of my layout is done the thought occurred to me to use exclusively C track and automation on phase 2 and have it run separately from the main layout. Or better yet make a portable layout and showcase Marklin to the North American modelers! Marklin is what real model railroading is all about!

exciting times ahead!

Michel

My preferred US dealer shipped my CS3 Plus to me today. I'm itching to receive it.
My dealer told me that, though he has 60 orders, he has received only 3 from Marklin. He is a major US Marklin dealer. Also, this forum declares that there is no operating manual in English. So much for Marklin's desire to serve non-German speaking markets. Crying

I think German dealers also just get small fractions of the CS3s they pre-ordered.
German manual first, English translation some time later.

In the last century Germans had to wait about three months for German versions of Microsoft products.
Today English and German versions ship at the same time, but German versions are sometimes ridiculous.

Märklin are in dire straights: CS2 no longer available, CS3 announced for June 2016, but software still not ready by October 2016. And CS3/CS3+ only available in small quantities.
So once again early adaptors are beta testers.
Regards
Tom

When Nigel had his open day a couple of weeks ago I made a statement that you don't see Marklin offering Mega Start Sets these days,

Then I got a mail from Joes Modellbahn with these links: -

SBB Mega Start Set with Re460 and Ae6/6 and 60216

DB Mega start Set with Br043 and Br218 and 60216

Mega Start Set with Br012 and Br290 and 60216

At Joes they have the CS 3+ on stock and it is availbale.

CS 3+ at Joes

But here you get it cheaper: (discount 15%) - but only the 60216.

CS 3+ at MSL

I ordered one at MSL to support them in the hope they keep their discount prices policy, although Maerklin has set this illegal resale price maintenance of the second hand. For this I am willing to wait longer. Anyway I am already waiting 11 months, so I can wait another month or two.
