Hello,

I have come into possession of a Marklin Gauge 1/Spur 1 GMEB 3656/30 locomotive but sadly without documentation. A search on the internet doesn't really dig up much information other than it is an analog loco and Gauge 1 (1/32).

Can I please ask which type of power controller would I need to run this - I'm not planning an outdoor layout but would be looking to run it on a shortish length of Gauge 1 track as part of a bigger diorama.

Cheers,

NC

Hi NC,

Welcome to the forum.

What you bought is either a Märklin 5702 or a 5712. The loco operates with the Märklin AC-system. You need a Märklin- transformer with at least 30VA. I suggest to look out for an example with a grey case (6647 / 66470) . Be aware of very old transformers with a blue tinplate-case. Not all of these are electrical safe today.

Regards

Markus

That's very helpful, Markus, thanks. I figured a heavier-duty transformer would be required but couldn't really find much information on the internet. Perhaps I was using the wrong search terms.
