Hi, looks like 2016 is going to be an interesting year when it comes to innovations, a Chinese company has come up with a new generation smoke generator, the unit consists of an air compressed bottle (round for steam locos to fit into the boiler or a flat air compressed container for diesel locos, electronic circuit board, tube and a micro valve mechanism. for the first time we will be able to control the smoke by volume (3 minutes for full steam ahead) and they have managed to apply 3 different smoke colours, white, grey and black (but they can't be mixed), they come in 2 sizes HO and gauge I and I think regardless of the hefty price it will be a success with gauge I modellers. the other problem I can see who will modify (model train manufacturer) their molds to incorporate such a unit but we will see, one manufacturer has already announced they will take on the new unit and also be the sole distributor. more news will follow as they come to hand, because this is still classified information I can't say much more John Edited by moderator 01 April 2016 23:41:25(UTC)

a question was raised by Howard, who do recharge the bottle ? quite simple: when its empty, its a throw away container and you can replace it with a new one (similar to a cream shaker you insert the capsule) , instead of refilling it from a bottle as we do it at present.

The lot of container's price will tell us if it's a good/innovative idea or not... Cheers, Walter

Cheers, Walter I hope this isn't a misunderstanding, we are not talking about sea containers but rather of pressurized flat containers not bigger than a size of a decoder but slightly deeper. all of you know or remember the siphon soda with its capsule John |
