Hi all

I'm getting a problem with some (two) of the locos I recently bought in a store.
I state that I bought them from a retailer who's not into Märklin (third rail and stuff) so he sells me Locos wagons and tracks half price ( Cool ). No problem with any equipment, except for

Diesel Loco Märklin 26583 Series MY 1128 TMY 102 Nohab 2008 Digital (Part of Märklin 153331 Herpa set)
Electric Loco BR 152 (34351) (not 100% sure on model)

These two locomotives are not automatically detected by my MS2 and if I try manual search they sort of "detect" them while searching for either DCC or Motorola, the Loco then lights up and starts running around full speed not recognising any control. The only way to stop it is by cutting the power off (manually or by pressing stop onto the MS). Can't really remember if it then added to the loco list or didn't, but I suggest the latter.

How is this possibile? Software? Hardware? Is it possible to this be related to where I bought it? (it was in its case closed and everything).

Thank you very much

Luca

Hi Luca,
Digital locomotives will occasionally do this when first on the tracks.
For some reason, the decoder does not detect the digital signal momentarily.
So the motor uses the full 18V of the track.

All you can do is select the loco on your controller, then you can command it.

PS: I hope the decoder was not removed by someone? Are they brand new???

regards
Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

Could be error 404 with this loco.
Did you open it? Did you set the DIP switches for a digital address?

If this loco is set for analogue mode, it will run uncontrollable on digital layouts.

It is a Delta loco and the Detect Loco feature of the MS2 normally does not work for Delta locos - not even if the loco is set for digital operation.

I have no idea what decoder is in the NOHAB loco. Checking the letter of the serial number could give us a clue.
M is Delta, D is Digital with DIP switch, H is digital with or without DIP switch.
A photo of the decoder might help if it is "H".
Regards
Tom

Right - to me it sounds exactly like an analog locomotive on a digital track.

You should determine the specific model number and post it for more advice.

Good Luck!
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.
