Hi All I have an SBB E3/3 shunter 36330 I want to try and add a telex coupler I found on Ebay, and hopefully control uncoupling through my CS2 I am not an expert with marklin digital but would this be possible with my older digital shunter ? If the soldering is easy as it is my first attempt, I would like to give it a try. Thanks in advance Tim

Did you ever open your loco? |

Tim, there is nothing wrong with trying, and my motto is: there is a way , the only thing you have to do is find it,, by using an ESU decoder you can add 2 telex coupling under Aux 1 and Aux 2, it would be nice if you have a lokprogrammer and it is very easy to program the pulse time and with Version 4 lokpilots you have other options it actually pushes the carriage a bit forward, I personally would recommend it and hopefully you can find a way. if not as many photos from the front and rear coupling outside and inside and I should be able to assist you if you need help. I've added telex coupling to a E BR 63/163 and they only had coupling hooks

Hi Tim, This could be impossible. As Tom states, you will need a new decoder. The old FX can't be reconfigured, so you can't add functions that were not there from the beginning. Physically, from the exploded diagram, it looks like it may be impossible. The FX decoder fits around the motor and drive gears, optimizing space. A new decoder, even an ESU with leads attached (no adapter board) may not fit. Perhaps there is room between the motor and the body housing. I wish you luck. https://medienpdb.maerkl...es/1/pdf/36330_explo.pdf |
Matt Era 3 DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control. With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397. |

Hi All I had a look inside the loco and I do not think I have enough space. So I will have to buy another shunting loco, interestingly the latest Marklin SBB offering the two half shoes 36332 They do not have telex couplers, why not ???? Tim

Maybe they were trying to keep the price down - they are already very expensive! |

Tim, why don't you take th housing off and let me see what room there is available. an ESU decoder should fit into the space what ever was there before
