Hi! I have not been able to reduce the volume (on Märklin 37294 on the E191 DB) by entering a new value in Mobile Station II (v.1.81). - "Program CV" is striked out as not an option
- "Vol" (Change Volume) does not seem to work
The MFX MM2 Address is set to 20, no collision. The CV addresses are (from the booklet) 01 (Address), 03 (Acc), 04 (Breaking delay), 05 (Max speed) and 08 (Reset) - but not directly settable. Also, there is no "Vol" there, even if that's an option in the "Change loco" - so that's probably the explanation of why it doesn't work. I ended up with a 5 Ohm resistor in series with the speaker. 10 Ohm also seemed to be suitable, but it would perhaps have been too much. The speaker is 8 Ohm, and I just assume that this is OK for the speaker driver. However, I don't like this solution, but it does decrease the power in the speaker by some 62%. Of course, the frequency response is modified some, but it doesn't sound like it's audible. Does my reasoning here hold water?

Hi!
You run the loco using mfx, so the MM address is not used and the MM CVs are not used either. Setting the volume should work.
The loco has mfx+ and MS2 v 1.81 has some bugs with respect to mfx+ locos.
Speaker impedance of 4 ohm or more will be OK for the decoder, so no damage done with a resistor in series. |

Thanks! Now, what is the last (running) version of the Mobile Station II firmware?
I learn that it may be updated via a connection box and a newer unit?
Are there other alternatives to update over the net and via a local download over some sort of interface? If I buy a USB-CAN box (is it standard CAN?)? Or a is there a JTAG inside (for download of the whole thing including or not of the bootloader), EHCI debug port etc.?
Is the circuit diagram available? Which processor do they use?

Known upgrade options are from a current MS2 or a current CS2. Latest version is 2.50. |

By the way.
I had to fasten one of the 2.5 mm (?) nuts on the non-driving wheel set because it some times stopped against the ladder.
Is there a suggesion as to an ok toolset for these small bolts and screws?

Is there a suggesion as to an ok toolset for these small bolts and screws? Marklin make a set with the right tools for their HO locos. It's catalogue number is 70900 http://www.maerklin.de/e...pdb_pi1%5Bsearchres%5D=1 |
Ray
Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

I agree with Ray - the Marklin tool set 70900 is very helpful.
It has three nut drivers which make removing and installing the nuts on the drive rods/wheels much easier. |

Jim
I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |
